Hi, I’m Sabella!
I was diagnosed with T1D at 11 years old and since then, I’ve navigated countless highs and lows — blood sugars, yes, but also careers, relationships, heartbreak, autoimmune diagnoses, burnout, grief, and reinvention. I know what it’s like to survive the American healthcare system, to fight relentlessly for healthcare, and to live with “invisible” conditions that impact every corner of life.
Over the past two decades of living with T1D, I’ve worn many hats—roles within advocacy, lived experience, diabetes tech industry, western healthcare, and an explorer of eastern healing modalities. I’ve worked with families of children living with T1D, taught yoga and meditation at national events, and collaborated with organizations like the American Diabetes Association and Taking Control of Your Diabetes. I’m also a global advocate with the #dedoc° Diabetes Online Community, and I create offerings rooted in both science and soul.
Integrated within all the roles and projects, I’m a soulful person doing my best to live well in a body that requires constant tending — a body that feels deeply, and a heart that won’t give up on a more compassionate, integrated model of care.
I’m on a mission to reimagine what support can look like for people living with co-existing chronic conditions — building bridges between systems & stories, medicine & mindfulness.
